Your privacy is very important to me. Any personal information will be kept safe and secure and will only be used for the purpose it was provided for. I adhere to current data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003. For the purpose of the Data Protection Act, the Data Controller at Lisbon Counselling is myself, Alicja Ligeza (formerly known as Alicja Szalinska).
Information Collected
When you make an enquiry or have therapy with me, you may provide me with personal information such as your name, age, address, phone number and mental health history by completing the forms on my website or by communicating with me e.g. by email or phone.
I may also receive information about you from other sources such as Google Analytics. When you visit my website, technical information such as your IP address, time zone or the type of browser used and information about your visit such as length of visit or pages viewed may be collected automatically. I do not collect or hold this information, but I can access it via Google Analytics platform. This information is collected with the use of cookies. If you don’t want to share this information, you can remove existing cookies from your computer or change your browser settings to block cookies for all or selected websites for future visits.
Use of Information
I use the information in accordance with the GDPR legislation, which means I must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. The lawful basis relevant for my services are holding and processing personal information for the purpose of fulfilling a contract and legitimate interest.
This includes sensitive personal data such as mental health history for the provision of health treatment.
I will use your information for the following purposes:
• to fulfil my obligations arising from the contract or to accurately respond to your enquiry
• for record keeping, insurance, tax purposes and business operations
• to administer and improve my website
• to notify you about changes to my service (if relevant)
• only with your clear consent to notify you of relevant services that I will offer in the future
Record Keeping
Client details are kept in line with the requirements of my professional insurance and all records are stored securely on a password protected device that is not shared with any third party. Please note that while I endeavour to protect the information I receive and I have robust measures in place to prevent unauthorised access, I cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted through electronic means e.g. by email.
To the best of my knowledge, the data that I collect from you will be transferred to and stored at a destination within the European Economic Area (EEA).
Disclosure of Information
All personal details you share with me are confidential save for the few exceptions when I may have a legal obligation to disclose it, such as when required by court. These limits of confidentiality are described in more detail within my counselling agreement.
Your Rights
You can request to see the information I hold about you or ask me to stop processing your personal information. If you ask me to delete your personal information, I will remove everything apart from the details that I have a legal obligation to keep e.g. for legal, insurance or tax purposes.
You can also ask me to correct any mistakes there may be in the personal information I hold about you.
